Summer!
Seminars and Evangelism…
Hello family and friends, and welcome to our July/Summer update. The summer is always a slow time, people on vacation and no schools running, but we found stuff to do.
World Cup
During the world cup, Mexico hosted some of the games. One of the Missions organisations that we are working with had a plan to do evangelism during these games. The plan was to have teams go out to the stadiums and focus on evangelism and creating connections with people. Here in Morelia we didn’t have any actual games being played, but there were games being displayed on big screens in public for people to view. So we volunteered to be a part of the teams that would go to these games and do evangelism.
We participated for three weeks, as Mexico did go far in the world cup. We had a great time talking with people and sharing our testimonies.
Salamanca
Carmen's Parents, who are pastors of a church in Salamanca, asked us if we could spend 2 weeks teaching the young people of the church. We decided to teach a bible seminar that we have taught in many communities. This seminar called BELT (Bible Education and Leadership Training), focuses on the fundamental themes and principles of the bible. We wanted to equip the young people for their next phases in life. There were five students in total, a 21 year old, two 19 year olds, a 16 year old and a 14 year old. Some of them in high school and some about to enter university.
Our friend Fernando came to help us teach. He was a part of YWAM a few years ago and was a student with me in my bible school. He is a great teacher and we hope to return the favour by going to his town and teaching in the church where he works.
Staff Retreat
Every year, the base has a staff retreat. It’s a time dedicated to refocusing on why we are here and to ask God what is his word for the future. It was a great time to learn with our fellow staff.
Thank you for your interest in the ministries and reading this newsletter. God has a plan and we should be seeking him and his heart for people in our lives. Remember to take every opportunity that presents itself, to share the gospel with every person around you. Let’s continue to pray for each other as we build God’s kingdom.
